Bethany Ruth Schrom, of the 900 block of Hannah Drive, supposedly allowed the boy to drive a 2000 Chrysler sedan while she and rode as a passenger along with the boy's mother Laurellyn Schrom— despite the fact that he was under the legal driving age— around 10:20 a.m. on July 1, according to Northern Lancaster County Regional police.
The boy crashed the sedan into a neighbor's garage located in the 700 block of Hannah Drive— seriously damaging the car and garage, as well as injuring the driver and passengers in the sedan, police say.
Schrom has been charged with two misdemeanors according to the police:
- Endangering Welfare of Children – Parent /Guardian /Other
- Recklessly Endangering Another Person
The charges have been filed in front of Magisterial District Judge Tony Russell in Ephrata, additional information about this incident has not been released.
